Perumin 36 Arequipa

Australian Pavilion wins top design award at Perumin 36 in Arequipa

For the second year running, Australia was awarded Best Pavilion at Perumin, Peru's annual mining summit hosted in Arequipa.

The Australian pavilion at Perumin 36 stood two storeys high with Australia's Nation Brand proudly on display.

Valeria Beck, Business Development Manager, Trade and Investment for Austrade in Peru said: “The Australian Pavilion looked stunning this year; the space was really inviting for visitors! The use of the different nation brand elements combined, plus the lighting and hospitality offered at the Australian Innovation Hub helped it to stand out.”

The Australian Innovation Hub housed inside the pavilion was Sustainability themed. The space was fitted out with elements drawn from nature: wood, plants and grasses, and plenty of light and air to create a sense of space and a meticulous lighting design to bring it to life.

Decarbonising and net zero mining were hot topics at the trade show. Officials joined guided tours to interact with and learn about Australian Mining Equipment Technology and Services solutions firsthand.

Ms Beck explained the importance of Perumin 36 for Australian businesses looking to enter the Latin American market: "There is a lot of enthusiasm because the quality of the attendees is very high.

“One of the advantages is that the event takes place outside of Lima, in Arequipa. It is the quality of the attendees committed to the event, that is what makes visits to the stand successful. Many business opportunities emerge.”

There were more than 30 Australian exporters at the event and their businesses were showcased within the pavilion by Australia's Nation Brand.

Austrade's Head of Communications and Marketing, Sarah Holder said: “Ahead of its second birthday, Australia's Nation Brand continues to be the ultimate co-brand for Australian businesses to display their smarts, technological innovations and sustainable solutions on the world stage.

“Australia's Nation Brand goes beyond borders when it comes to promoting Australian businesses and telling the story of their success to the world.”

The Australian Pavilion took out the top prize based on planning, execution, design, hospitality, innovation, branding consistency and execution. Congratulations to all Austraders involved.
